Tooth Pain in Kolkata? How to Get Relief Fast
For sudden tooth pain, rinse with warm salt water, take an over-the-counter painkiller you normally tolerate, and avoid very hot, cold or sugary food on that side. Painkillers only mask the problem — a throbbing or lingering toothache almost always needs a dentist. OroCare Dental Clinic offers same-day appointments for tooth pain at its Bhowanipur and Mukundapur centres in South Kolkata; call or WhatsApp 98753 42440.
What to do right now
- Rinse gently with warm salt water (½ teaspoon salt in a glass of warm water).
- Take a painkiller you normally use safely, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen, following the label.
- Avoid very hot, cold, sweet or hard foods on the painful side.
- Hold a cold pack against the cheek for 15 minutes if there is swelling.
- Do not place aspirin directly on the gum — it can burn the tissue.
Common causes
- Tooth decay (a cavity reaching the nerve)
- A cracked, chipped or broken tooth
- A lost or loose filling
- Gum infection or an abscess
- Grinding or clenching (often at night)
See a dentist straight away if…
- Pain that keeps you awake or lasts more than a day or two
- Swelling of the face, jaw or gum
- Fever alongside the tooth pain
- A bad taste or discharge near the tooth
How OroCare treats it
At OroCare, the dentist first finds the exact cause with an examination and, if needed, an X-ray — then treats it at the source. Depending on the diagnosis that may mean a filling, a single-visit root canal under magnification, or treating a gum infection, all under local anaesthesia so the visit is comfortable.
