Stitches placed in the region post surgically are usually removed after 7 – 10 days.

Stitches that dissolve spontaneously are rarely used in the oral cavity as they take anywhere between two and a half to three months. If the stitches are not removed for so long they accumulate a lot of food debris and result in an unclean surgical site, resultant delayed wound healing and secondary post-operative complications.

***Wisdom teeth are called so because they erupt around the time when a person becomes an adult, and supposedly gets “wise”. It has nothing to do with one’s intelligence and wisdom. So rest assured, wisdom tooth removal is not going to be associated with one becoming any less smart or losing the gained wisdom.
